Qatar's Cultural Village Foundation launches Peot of Prophet Prize


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Qatar's Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has launched the Katara Prize for the Poet of Prophet, where competing poets would present their Arabic-language poems about Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

This Prize is a simple expression of the love of the Arab and Musli nations for Prophet Mohammad, Dr. Khaled Al-Sulaiti, Director General of Katara, said in a speech marking the launch of the Prize on Monday.

The Prize, he added, aimed at deepening the love of Prophet Mohammad, contributing to preserving classical Arabic language and encouraging Arabs and Muslims to memorize poems.

Al-Sulaiti said he was looking forward for the widest participation possible.

The awards for the first five winners are: USD 300,000 for first place, USD 200,000 for second place, the third will get USD 100,000, the fourth USD 50,000 and the fifth to get USD 25,000.
