Kuwait- Cabinet Has Approved Draft Law On Copyrights, Refers It To Amir


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Cabinet held its regular weekly meeting at Seif Palace Monday under chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al- Hamad Al-Sabah. Emerging from the meeting, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al- Mubarak Al-Sabah said in news statements that at outset of the meeting, the Cabinet was apprised of a recent message sent to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from Senegalese President Macky Sall on bilateral good relations, inviting His Highness the Amir to visit Senegal.

The Cabinet was also informed about a recent message to His Highness the Amir from Sultan of Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, appreciating warm welcome and hospitality he had received during his recent official visit to Kuwait, the minister said. The ministers reviewed a recent message sent to His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al- Hamad Al-Sabah from his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott on bilateral friendly relations and existing cooperation and ways of developing them.

Also during the weekly Cabinet meeting, His Highness the Prime Minister expounded on the outcomes of his visit to Jeddah and his talks with senior Saudi officials at the behest of His Highness the Amir. On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Cabinet congratulated His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and Kuwaiti people on the fasting month, the Cabinet minister added. Afterwards, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah briefed the meeting on the outcomes of a recent visit to Kuwait by Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides.

The ministers also reviewed the outcomes of the 135th session of the GCC Ministerial Council held in Riyadh, which focused on Gulf integration and the latest regional and international developments, primarily Yemen, Syria, Libya, Iraq and the Middle East peace process, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah pointed out.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Anas Al- Saleh addressed the meeting on his participation in a recent Middle East and North Africa economic conference held in London. Then, the Cabinet listened to a briefing from Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al- Humoud Al-Sabah about the high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly to mark the 20th anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY) in New York, together with his meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Furthermore, Chairman of the Government Performance Follow-up Agency Sheikh Ahmad Meshal Al-Ahmad Al- Sabah informed the Cabinet about his body's annual report on governmental performance and projects. The Cabinet approved a draft law on copyrights aiming to cope with international intellectual property agreements, and referred it to His Highness the Amir. Finally, the Cabinet discussed issues discussed by the National Assembly and several political reports on the latest Arab and international developments.
