Oman power subsidy hits USD784.6m in 2014

(MENAFN) Oman's government subsidized its power sector with about USD784.6 million in 2014, marking a decrease by 2.5 percent from the former year's USD805.4 million, Oman Daily Observer reported.

The figures were issued by The Electricity Holding Company (Nama Group), which added that the decrease marks an unprecedented event for the always-increasing government payouts over the last five years.

"Oman's electricity and water sector continued to register a strong growth rate in 2014 through increasing the distribution and transmission capital assets," the Chairman of Nama Group said.
