Kuwait wins two gold, three silver, one bronze in Muay Thai tourney


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait Muay Thai team won two gold, three silver, and one bronze medals in the Arab Muay Thai (Thai boxing) Championship Sunday, which concluded in the Jordanian capital with the participation of 20 teams.

Masoud Abdulhakeem Masoud (Juniors 51 kg) and Bader Marwan Hammad (Juniors 48 kg) both won two gold medals, while Saif Samer Ahmad (Juniors 41 kg) won a silver medal and Khaled Mohammad Malek (Juniors 41 kg) won a bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Muay Boran team won the silver medal through players Masoud Abdulhakeem and Khaled Mohammad Malek.

The Kuwaiti Muay Thai team is affiliated with the Kuwait Olympic Committee and chaired by Ali Al-Fodari and coach Abduallah Al-Saa'e.

The Kuwaiti team's achievements in this championship is due to effort exerted by the team's management, in addition to the players' commitment to put up great performances that won admiration and appreciation of other participating teams, Al-Fodari stated to KUNA.

He also commended the Kuwaiti players' performances against some of the most prominent practitioners in the region, particularly from Jordan and Iraq.

For his part, coach Al-Saa'e described his players' achievement as "excellent," affirming that the event had strong and skillful opponents from Jordan and Iraq, which increased the level of competitiveness and made the Kuwaiti win rewarding.

He also stressed the importance of such participation to boost the skills of his players.

The championship, which kicked off last Thursday until today, witnessed the participation of delegations from Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine and Libya.

Players born in 2001, 2002, and 2003 played in the Muay Boran competitions, while players born in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 played in the Muay Thai competitions.
