Libyan army recaptures western areas from Fajr Libya

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Libyan army said Sunday its troops liberated areas near the capital city of Tripoli from Fajr Libya (Dawn of Libya) militia.

The army has fully controlled the towns of Al-Jamil, Roqdalin, Zliten, Al-Aqrabiya and Al-Essa, a military statement said, noting that the operations are going on in the western region.

The army reassured the citizens in the newly-liberated areas about their safety but warned of stern measures against law violators.

The army, backed by the Tobruk-based UN-recognized parliament, has been trying to regain control over Tripoli since the city fell in the hands of Fajr Libya, backed by the outgoing parliament or the General National Congress, in last August.
