23 killed in Egypt crashes
(MENAFN- Arab News) Two separate road accidents in Egypt Sunday killed 23 Egyptians and left 17 others injured.
Husam Gamil, director of emergency services for the Red Sea governorate, said one accident occurred when a passenger bus flipped over near the resort city of Hurghada, killing 11 people and injuring 11 others.
Maj. Gen. Mohamed Ismail, a local security director, said 12 people were killed and another six injured when their minibus collided with a truck carrying construction materials near Wadi Natrun, 125 km northwest of Cairo.
Meanwhile, Egyptian authorities on Sunday referred 58 people suspected of links with the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood to a military court over "terrorist attacks" against the police and public property.
Prosecutors accuse the 58 Islamists, 37 of whom are in custody, of carrying out "terrorist attacks" between August 2013 and October 2014.
They were charged with "attempted murder of police officers, acts of sabotage against public buildings and property, resisting security forces, and vandalism," a prosecution statement said.
