Jordan takes part in conference on state parties to CRPD


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) His Royal Highness Prince Mired Bin Raad stressed the need for further efforts to help persons with disabilities and exchange knowledge and expertise in this regard.

His Highness, who headed Jordan's delegation to the 8th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, held at the UN Headquarters in New York from 9-11 June, said preparatory work for the 2015 Sustainable Development Goals document that is expected to be adopted in September, will "provide us with the opportunity to achieve these goals."

He also praised efforts of the team that was tasked with drafting the document, noting that the inclusion of the rights and issues of persons with disabilities in the document will ensure more attention to this section of the populace.

Prince Mired urged state parties to the Convention to exert further efforts to ensure equal opportunities and justice and provide protection to women, children and persons with disabilities.
