Kuwait, Canada to bolster academic, scientific cooperation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait Ambassador to Canada Ali Al-Sammak met Friday with Professor Rula Abisaab, Director of the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University.

The two sides discussed ways to bolster academic and scientific cooperation, as well as possibilities of registering Kuwaiti students in McGill's various colleges, the Kuwaiti embassy said in a press statement, sent to KUNA in Washington D.C..

Abisaab expressed desire in increasing the pace of scientific and academic cooperation with the Kuwaiti embassy and Kuwait's Cultural Office in Canada, the statement noted.

The meeting was attended by Director of Kuwaiti Cultural Office in Canada Dr. Fahad Al-Nasser and Professor Jamil Ragep, former Director of the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University.

Kuwait has provided a grant to the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University to contribute to increasing awareness and understanding of the Islamic religion in the Canadian society, which benefited several foreign students who wanted to learn Islamic studies.
