Foxconn eyes building iPhone plant in India

(MENAFN) According to an official, Apple iPhone manufacturer Foxconn is currently holding talks with the India government to build a plant in the country, Arab News reported.

The industry minister for India's western state of Maharashtra said that local officials had pitched several possible sites to the Taiwanese technology giant for the purpose.

In March the Apple supplier reported a 22.34 percent rise in profits for 2014. Its net profit was USD4.2 billion last year with nearly half of its revenue generated by orders from Apple.

"We have sent Foxconn a presentation outlining possible locations they could explore and also the tax incentives the state is willing to extend," the minister said in a statement.
