Three communist rebels killed in southern Philippines


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Three suspected communist rebels were killed Sunday in a clash with government troops in the southern Philippines, an army battalion commander said, according to dpa.

Guerrillas attacked soldiers in Davao City, about 950 kilometres
south of Manila, according to Lieutenant Colonel Rodney Intal.

Intal said the troops recovered one M14 rifle, two unexploded bombs
and several backpacks left behind by the fleeing rebels.

'There was no casualty on the government side,' he said.
