(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Hundreds of Ooredoo employees took part in the company's 2015 Talent Awards that saw 65 Qatari employees receive certificates for outstanding learning and development.

The event, attended by Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani, CEO, Ooredoo Qatar, Waleed Al Sayed, COO, senior executives and guests, aimed to showcase developmental options available to employees and recognise their scholastic and career achievements.

In his keynote speech, Al Sayed outlined the impact Qatari employees had made on Ooredoo's performance in 2015 at home and internationally.

"Ooredoo is enjoying one of its most successful years in Qatar, building our market and delivering better services and faster speeds. We are able to achieve these results and ensure our customers' satisfaction through the commitment and creativity of our employees.

"Talent development is at the heart of our strategy for growth, and we will continue to invest in learning and training because we see enormous benefits this investment delivers to our company, our community and Qatar," he added.

Ooredoo has increased learning and development budget by 15 percent this year to further support employees' growth.

The employees received Institute of Leadership & Management degrees, Master's degrees and MBAs, EBMAs from HEC-Paris, Chartered Institute of Marketing accreditation and scholarships for degree programmes. Ooredoo shared Qatari employee value proposition, 'Join the Change € Be Fulfilled' and outlined learning and development options, including e-Tatweer service, an online learning portal that provides employees with access to learning resources and development planning tools; 'Ooredoo Management Compass, a competency framework that provides managers with directions to achieve the company's vision in Qatar; and 'Women in Focus', a whole month to celebrate female employees' achievements.

With opportunities such as the Qatarisation programme that has ensured that over 40 percent of roles at Ooredoo go to Qataris, award-winning talent development programmes, scholarships, sponsorship and internship programmes, the company is working hard to be the employer of choice in Qatar.

The achievements celebrated demonstrate Ooredoo's support for employees and ambition and drive for improvement displayed by people at the company.
