At Least 12 Afghan Police Killed in Militant Ambush

(MENAFN- QNA) More than 12 policemen were killed when rebels ambushed a security checkpoint in southern Afghanistan, a government official said Saturday.
"The policemen engaged with rebels for hours in Musa Qala district Friday night," said Omar Zwak, the governor's spokesman for the southern province of Helmand.
No group claimed immediate responsibility for the attack, dpa reported.
Afghan security forces have been struggling to defeat the insurgency after most US and foreign troops withdrew at the end of last year.
Helmand province saw some of the heaviest cambat in 2014.
