IBLR: BSF Alinma notch repeat wins in 2nd round of eliminations
(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: The Interbank Basketball League of Riyadh Day 8 saw Banque Saudi Fransi crush Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB) 102-41 in a glaring mismatch of a contest at the Al Yamama court.
Top scoring this time for BSF was Joseph Manquera who had a game high 30 points. BSF's usual high scorer Ivan Marcelino shot 23 points and added 10 rebounds. Also providing scoring support were Rosel Salazar with 12 points and 13 rebounds and Jozel Labinghisa with 7 points.
From 46-18 at the turn BSF pulled away in the second half with fast break points from Manquera. The game also awarded BSF coach Jun Bantug his first win in his first game back from vacation.
For SAIB they were led again by their top scorer Jonas Moreto with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Playing coach Anthony Inciong contributed 9 points and Sherwin Frago added 6 points and 8 rebounds. Best Player of the game went to both Joseph Manquera and Ivan Marcelino.
In the second game Alinma completed its mastery over ANB with a 91-86 victory. However. there were some scary moments as ANB stormed back from a 10 point deficit to cut the lead down to one with less than a minute to go.
ANB's risk-taking resulted in fouls that translated to four crucial free throw points for Alinma. Yazid Bastami led Alinma with a game-high 33 points and 18 rebounds. He was ably supported by Ronald Rivera with 19 points and 8 rebounds Johnrey Lorena with 15 points and back-up center Ahmed Al Johani contributing 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Half time score was 62 -57 to Alinma. ANB was led by power forward Gab Gabitanan with 23 points and 25 rebounds and Egay Borromeo adding 22 points and 9 rebounds. Also helping out in the scoring chores were Ezbon Lobaton with 15 points and Warren Garcia with 9 points. Best Player of the game was Alinma's Yazid Bastami.
