(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed dismay on Thursday at the UN not including Israel on the UN black list of nations violating children's rights.
In a press statement, OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani said "excluding Israel from the list is tantamount to encouraging it continue its aggressive policies against children, women, and the elderly in the occupied territories." He added in his statement that "the international community should not ignore the crimes Israel perpetrated against the Palestinians (including many children) when it invaded Gaza in July, 2014." He urged the international community to monitor and document the Israeli violations against the children and adults of the occupied territories.
Madani made these remarks on the backdrop of the UN recently not listing Israel among nations that violate the rights of children at times of crisis and political conflicts.
