30 dead in Nepal landslide


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least 30 people were killed and 12 were missing today in Nepal following torrential rains since last night which buried six villages.

India's ANI reported quoting local police sources that the number of dead may go up amid authorities launched rescue operations in the Taplejung district, about 310 miles east of Kathmandu.

Police and army personnel are involved in the rescue operation. Helicopters were also pressed into rescue services following better weather situation.

A strong earth quake and continues aftershocks had killed more than 8700 people, destroyed thousands of houses in addition to incurring huge economic losses.
