Saudi Arabia's May inflation rises to 2.1


(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia's inflation rose to 2.1 percent year-on-year in May from 2.0 percent in April.
The Central Department of Statistics released the May consumer price data. Prices of housing and utilities rose 3.1 pct from a year earlier in May while food and beverage prices climbed 1.4 percent.
The data are based on the 2007 consumer basket with the series beginning in September 2012.
Saudi Arabia's imports were up 2.8 percent from a year earlier in March while nonoil exports were down 19.4% data from the department showed.
Nonoil exports traditionally account for around 12 percent of the overall exports.
