Addressing the opening of the session, HE Dr. Al Attiyah said the meeting comes during continuing challenges, risks and threats engulfing the Middle East, particularly terrorism and violence whose political, security and economic repercussions can't be neglected.

"In this context, we appreciate the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in foiling the terrorist plot that aimed to undermine the security and stability of the kingdom, and we stress the support of GCC states for the Kingdom of Bahrain in all its actions to maintain its security and stability," HE Dr. Al Attiyah said.

The meeting discussed the outcome of Riyadh conference on saving Yemen and building a unified state. It also touched on the deteriorating humanitarian conditions of the Syrian people in light of Assad regime's intransigence and insistence on killing and destruction.

The agenda of the meeting also included a set of issues and projects related to mutual GCC work and topics pertaining to strategic dialogue between GCC states and other blocs.
