Tellicherry football fiesta in Oman on Friday


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) After the roaring success of Tellicherry football fiesta held in Dubai last month conducted by the Tellicherry cricketers the organisers have decided to spread their wings in an attempt to develop the skills and also to trace out the talent of the young football players from Thalassery and Mahe. 

In this aspect a tournament will be played in Oman on June 12 at Al Ahli Sidab Club. The Oman edition will be conducted by United Thalasery Sports Club in association with Al Ahli Sidab Club. The event which is first of its kind conducted in Oman will begin at 7.30pm and will end at 11pm.

More than hundred of young children along with their parents and well wishers are traveling from Dubai to Oman to take part in this football fiesta.

The members of UTSC are working overtime to have a very entertaining tournament which is all set to attract a large family crowd both from Dubai and Oman. The event will have matches divided in four categories. They are: under 15 boys under 13 boys under 10 boys and the veterans. Noted sports personality SAS Naqvi will inaugurate the tournament at 7.30pm.

Thalassery a city from the northern part of Kerala in India is popularly known as the sporting city of Kerala.  Tellicherry cricketers and UTSC are overjoyed to receive the response of the sports lovers in the city. This is one of the reasons that they have decided to join hands and conduct a tournament in Oman.

'After the grand success of Dubai football fiesta we are now coming to Oman to take in the Oman edition. This will give more exposure for our kids.  We are also planning to take our children to Portugal in the near future' said a delighted Jinos Basheer of Tellicherry cricketers in Dubai.

Apart from the football fiesta the organisers in Oman have arranged a live Thalassery mappila paatu songs  by Maliyakkal Shamsu and party sports quizzes fun games for ladies and children and the sparking live commentary by noted sports commentator Salih Thacher.

Personalities who had spent most of their time to promote sports in Thalassery will also be honoured during the function. Trophies and individual gifts for all the participating players and outstanding performers will be given during the prize distribution ceremony. 'Oman is one of the most peaceful countries in the world and a place where citizens and expats live together in brotherhood. We are waiting the team to arrive from our neighbouring country and we are gearing up to receive them.
