Kuwait Reassures Expats On Demographic Initiatives


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, and State Minister for Planning and Development Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh has assured the expatriates in Kuwait that the new demographic plan is not targeting a specific community but is aimed to put an end to the presence of marginalized laborers in the country, reports Al-Rai daily.

She revealed that the ministry's education committee is in the process of preparing mechanisms related to the demographic plan which has already been sent to the Cabinet. Al-Sabeeh explained that the ministries especially Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and State Ministry for Planning and Development Affairs will be addressed regarding the execution of the mechanisms, which means each ministry will have its own mechanism and the efforts of all state institutions are required for implementing the plan successfully.

She said there are many mechanisms that need to be studied in detail prior to their official announcement and application such as allocating quota system for each community based on the market need, and proportioning the number of citizens with the number of expatriates using international technique.

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Planning and Development Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh has unveiled a plan to construct waiting sheds on the roadsides to protect workers from the scorching heat of summer.

The minister disclosed this decision is in compliance with the directive of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Global Humanitarian Leader. She said His Highness the Prime Minister has directly instructed her in this regard in writing.

She affirmed the step is a clear indication that the country's leadership, headed by the Amir, cares about the welfare of workers. She revealed that the ministry will contact private companies to participate in the project, in addition to the cooperative societies.

She pointed out this is in line with administrative decision number 535/2015 issued by the Public Authority for Manpower, prohibiting laborers from working in open spaces from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm starting from June 1 to Aug 31.
