(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Vodafone has joined the jury panel of Qatar University (QU) and College of Business & Economics' System Analysis and Design Course Group Project Assignment to evaluate the work of students busy over the past six weeks planning, analysing and designing a digital system to enhance knowledge sharing across the college, based on the concept of an academic social media platform.

The system will assist students to get answers and information from tutors or lecturers and other students and faculty members. It will enhance students' learning experience in the college and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of pedagogical interaction between lecturers and students.

The jury panel comprises Dr Karim Al Yafi, Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems at the college, and Simone Eliantonio, Head, Strategic Projects and Innovation, Vodafone Qatar.

The judges evaluated students' learning outcomes and gave feedback on each project. In addition to the depth of the analysis and the innovation behind the concept, the most important key performance indicator for the success of the winning team was the feasibility and viability of the concept, its convenience to users and adaptability in the future for other organisations who may deem it relevant to boost their communications processes.

Dr Al Yafi said: "The students demonstrated learning outcomes on a real project with high potential to be implemented and delivered works of professional standards."

Eliantonio said: "This is the kind of assignments that help students get closer to what the industry needs, by understanding that digital tools are effective at improving, if not revolutionising, any aspect of human endeavours."

Students were asked to define a clear and detailed plan to properly manage the project. The plan should include a comprehensive feasibility study and a WBS and PERT chart(s) to help them best manage and monitor the execution of the project. The students should also explain decision about the development methodology and justification for choosing it as well as discussing potential risks and how they intend to mitigate them. The students were also asked to conduct a comprehensive object-oriented analysis of the system which included identification and documentation of usage cases, domain models, system components and sequence diagrams.
