South Amboy NJ – On June 10 2015 Anthony Smith Jr launched a Kickstarter campaign for Tesla Stormborn: #1 a 24 page comic for teens and adults based on the amazing life of inventor Nikola Tesla.
“Tesla Stormborn Part 1 guides you through the life of Nikola Tesla starting with his tragic and eventful childhood all leading up to the start of Tesla's infamous War of the Currents with The Wizard of Menlo Park – Thomas Edison” says Smith “Stormborn shines light on Tesla in a way that has never been seen before. While not being a pure documentary it sticks to the facts and makes Tesla's story accessible to everyone. You'll laugh you'll cry Stormborn will hit you harder and faster than AC current.”
Tesla Stormborn is a limited comic series by Anthony Smith Jr with art by Brenda Salazar. Anthony has always been a Tesla fanboy and had a dream to turn his passion for Tesla into a comic book. Now he's putting all his waking hours into bringing those dreams into reality. For the last 7 months they have been working diligently to bring Tesla Stormborn to life. Brenda's art work realizes Anthony's vision in a fascinating way and turns the world of Tesla Stormborn into a living breathing entity that readers will want to immerse themselves in.
So why would a weekend mobile DJ and graduate of Full Sail University with a degree in Music Production want to write a comic about Nikola Tesla? Tesla's life often takes the backburner in the history books and classrooms to other mustachioed gentleman such as J.P. Morgan and Thomas Edison. The creator simply felt that this injustice could not stand any longer. With Tesla's name starting to make a resurgence in popular culture Smith felt now would be the best time to clear Tesla's good name with his very own comic book.
“We've priced our project at the absolute bare minimum. If we raise more we'll be able to produce more copies get a booth at NY Comic Con and give Tesla Stormborn #2 the green light as well as many other stretch goals” the creator explains “The Tesla Stormborn book will be printed in a beautiful 6.625×10.25” standard format that showcases the incredible talent of our artists and fits into a standard bag and board.”
In exchange for pledging to the project backers can gain access to a variety of rewards including a digital download for $4 a physical copy and e-book download for $10 or a signed limited physical copy of the book for $15. Backers can also pledge $30 to receive a Tesla t-shirt $50 for a Tesla t-shirt and a signed physical copy of Tesla Stormborn #1 and more!
