Walt Whitman High School and umttr to Host Second Annual Memorial Basketball Tournament and Fundraiser
Event to Raise Funds for Suicide Prevention and Positive Coaching
Montgomery County MD: umttr (you matter) and Walt Whitman High School will present a 3v3 basketball tournament and fundraiser on June 14 2015 at 12:00 - 4:00 pm and will be held at Walt Whitman High School (7100 Whittier Blvd Bethesda MD
20817). The event will showcase 8th - 12th grade basketball players (coed) adult basketball (under 50 and over 50) and feature celebrity appearances speakers elected officials and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event will support student mental health and wellness organizations including the Sources of Strength program provided through National Alliance of Mental Illness - Montgomery County The Campaign to Change Direction American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Positive Coaching Alliance.
The team that raises the most funds within each bracket will win a “behind-the-scenes” tour of Baltimore Ravens M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore MD.
The 3v3 basketball tournament is umttr’s second memorial tournament following the highly successful inaugural event hosted by the Bullis School in Potomac MD. The tournament honors the memory of Winston Churchill High student and varsity athlete Evan Rosenstock who lost his life to suicide as a result of depression in 2013 as well as all other young adults in the DMV area who have died by suicide.
