GCC Ministerial Media Meeting Starts in Doha


(MENAFN- QNA) The 23rd meeting for GCC ministers of information started Wednesday in Doha under the presidency of Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) Chairman HE Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al-Thani.

Addressing the opening ceremony, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer said the meeting takes place amid difficult circumstances and regional and international challenges that require extra effort and continuous work in order to preserve and stabilize communities at home and address threats to peace and security in the Gulf at the regional level.

"This places on our shoulders as media personnel a responsibility to put forward initiatives and new and innovative media visions that keep pace with accelerating developments at the local, regional and international levels that will improve the production and performance of our institutions and their media entities in the Gulf, and formulate a joint media Gulf discourse that reflects the unity of destiny and the united Gulf goal in a way that interprets the aspirations and orientations of Their Highnesses leaders of GCC states," Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer said.

He noted that developing GCC nationals and preserving their cultural identity should always be on the agenda of GCC media and to work on maintaining development achievements in every member state.

Concluding his speech, Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer expressed hope that the meeting will succeed in promoting mutual GCC media work in order to boost ties between peoples of the Gulf.
