Dubai Municipality organises campaign to retrieve sinking vessels

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Dubai Municipality has organised a campaign to retrieve sinking vessels from Dubai Creek. The effort was carried out with the participation of the General Department of Transport and Rescue of Dubai Police. A number of companies from the private sector provided the necessary equipment and machinery to help with the operation.

Abdul Majeed Al Saifaie, Director of the Waste Management Department in Dubai Municipality, said that the sinking vessels were causing environmental problems to the water, and impeding traffic, as well as hampering the ability of vessels to moor in the port. Al Saifaie added that the process of pulling the vessels out took 3 days due to their large size.

Yacoop Al Ali, Head of Specialist Hygiene in Dubai Municipality, said that the sinking vessels remained in the creek for a very long time and were saturated in water, which required the use of heavy machinery to aid in their retrieval.
