(MENAFN) Oman's Consumer Price Index (CPI), or inflation rate, decreased by a slight 0.4 percent in May when compared to the same month a year earlier, data from the National Centre for Information and Statistics (NCSI) showed, Muscat Daily reported.
The decline in May is attributed to a decrease in the prices of foodstuff and non-alcoholic beverage set, which went down by 1.45 percent, in addition to the clothing and footwear set, which decreased by 1.62 percent.
The transport set fell 0.55 per cent, while telecom prices gave up 0.17 percent. Goods and miscellaneous services recorded a 0.09 percent decrease, according to the data.
