Kuwait Highest Consumer Of Meat


(MENAFN- Arab Times) A study released recently by the Life Sciences and Environmental Researches Center affiliated to Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research (KISR) revealed that Kuwait is the highest per capita consumer of meat especially chicken and red meat, indicating that the study has been approved by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The study titled 'Food Sufficiency in Kuwait € Plant and Animal Food Sources' was prepared by the researchers Dr Aflaf Al-Nasser, Dr Mohammad Al-Bahao and Dr Mohammad Razzaq. It stated that Kuwait depends largely on imported food and it has been producing 23 percent and 30 percent of the local demand for milk and meat respectively, adding that the self sufficiency for fodder and vegetables are five percent and 55 percent respectively.
