Egyptian Court Sentences 11 to Death in Football Massacre Case


(MENAFN- QNA) An Egyptian court sentenced Tuesday 11 people to death in a retrial of the Port Said Stadium massacre case.

The court handed 10 defendants 15-year prison sentence, 15 others received a 10-year prison sentences and another 15 received five-year sentences. The court declared 21 others as innocent. All the verdicts can be appealed if defendants choose to do so.

Seventy-three defendants have been accused of killing 74 Ahly football club fans during a game in Port Said city between Al Masry and Al Ahly back in February 2012.
