Mideast airlines to record USD1.8b net profit in 2015

(MENAFN) Middle Eastern airlines are set to record an accumulative net profit of about USD1.8 billion this year, motivated by strong economic outlooks, load issues and lesser fuel prices, Gulf Times reported.

Net margin is about 3.1 percent, which is equivalent to USD9.61 per passenger. In addition, passenger traffic is forecast to register 12.9 percent growth this year, according to IATA's outlook report.

Driven by lower fuel prices, the general outlook for airlines in the region is to continue on a profitable trend, other airlines, however, are set to record significant losses.

"For the airline business, 2015 is turning out to be a positive year. Since the tragic events of September 2001, the global airline industry has transformed itself with major gains in efficiency," an official from IATA commented on the global situation for the market.
