(MENAFN) Pharmacy chain Boots said it plans to cut 700 jobs in the UJ as part of cost-cutting program by its newly merged parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance, The Telegraph reported.
Boots employs roughly 80,000 people in the UK but the job losses will affect "non-store" roles only. Roughly 400 of the jobs will be cut from Boots's head offices, this means a reduction a 5 percent of the workforce.
The remaining 300 jobs will cut from Boots's other offices around the UK. President of Boots insisted that the company remained committed to Nottingham despite Walgreens Boots Alliance being listed in the US.
"Boots has an incredible heritage of delivering care and support to communities across the UK for over 165 years. We also remain committed to our presence in Nottingham, the home of Boots since the beginning," he added.
