Labour min to represent India at Geneva international labour conference


(MENAFN- KNN India) Minister of Labour and Employment, Bandaru Dattatreya, will represent India in the session of International Labour Conference in Geneva from June 10 to 12, 2015 to deliberate on labour related issues. The 104th session of the conference is being held from June 1 to 13, 2015.

The conference is an annual affair in which labour ministers from various countries participate to deliberate on various issues like the welfare of the workers, implementation of the conventions and the recommendations of the ILO, the decent and productive employment creation in various enterprises and the transition from informal to formal economy.

Dattatreya will also participate in the BRICS (developing countries group) meeting of various Heads of Delegations on June 10. On the same day, he will be participating in Asia Pacific Group Ministerial meeting in which he will address about various initiatives taken by the Government of India for providing better employment opportunities and social security to people, government's commitment to unorganised workers and also on the implementation of labour standards towards strengthening the workers' rights.

On June 12, the minister will take part the Plenary Session and address the gathering consisting of leaders, trade unions and employers' organizations of various countries.

He will highlight the various initiatives of the Indian Government like Make in India, Skill India, Digital India and Smart City Project. It also includes initiatives for increasing job opportunities, increased focus on unorganized sector, amendment in Child Labour Act to comply with ILO Convention C-138 and C-182, the universal social security coverage which has been embarked on by the present government, the Jan Dhan Yojana Programme and the goals to achieve inclusive growth and sustainable development of the nation.
