MoF showcases smart apps at the 2015 Smart Government Exhibition

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) As part of its commitment to support and strengthen the move to 'smart' governance within the UAE, the Ministry of Finance has announced the launch of its new smart apps on the Apple Store and Google Play, in addition to its recently issued app for the Apple Smart Watch.

H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who opened the 2015 Smart Government Exhibition in Dubai yesterday, visited the Ministry's stand at the exhibition and reviewed the latest features of its apps for smart mobile phones and watches Organisers of the exhibition honoured the MoF for its efforts during an awards ceremony held by Arabian Media Network.

The MoF will participate in one of the sessions scheduled alongside the exhibition's activities, which showcase the features and services offered by the Ministry's smart phone apps and the technics adopted for its preparation.

Commenting on this participation, Mariam Mohammad Al Amiri said, "The Ministry's progression towards a 'smart' transition began in 2013 with its first phone app and this has led the Ministry to achieve its strategic vision to become a global leader in the management of financial resources in order to achieve a sustainable competitive environment."

Al Amiri added, "At first, the implementation of smart apps was an individual initiative launched by government entities voluntarily, and reflected their commitment to consolidate partnerships with audiences and partners. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, then announced the smart government initiative - and has set a clear approach to all entities for the need to shift to smart government services via communication channels that are always accessible to the public."

The Ministry's smart phone app offers a set of features for business and individual services and guarantees the highest security standards and confidentiality to ensure users' account privacy.

These smart apps include services for supplier registration and renewal on the Federal Register of suppliers, issuing Value Added Tax Certificates and Tax Residence Certificates, reviewing the budget preparation status, transfer requests and accessing data on budget reports and final accounts.

MoF recently launched its new app for the Apple Smart Watch, which will provide users the chance to track their requests for issuing Value Added Tax Certificates and Tax Residence Certificates, benefit from a number of services related to Gulf Economic Integration, view the Ministry's profile and latest news and get in contact with data communications specialists.

The supplier registration and renewal on the Federal Register of suppliers is considered one of the most significant services offered by the app. The Accounting Policies and Standard Department at Ministry, the entity responsible for registering suppliers on the Federal Register, emphasised the need to register first through the website. Users will be then able to renew registration through the Ministry's smart app on mobile phones in order to continue supplying the federal government with the services.
