Kuwait- Forces Urged To Enforce Law Equally On All


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Cabinet on Monday called for doubling efforts to deter whosoever dares to tamper with Kuwait's security or stability, or terrorize the innocent people. During its weekly routine meeting at Seif Palace, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al- Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Cabinet hailed the great efforts by the security bodies, under Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al- Hamad Al-Sabah. Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled briefed Monday's meeting on the enormous efforts exerted by the ministry for maintaining security and stability, in line with directives by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to firmly enforce the law, applying it equally to all, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said.

The Interior Minister stressed that the Ministry's staff "are capable of assuming their responsibilities, and determined to maintain security and safeguard the nation's potentials." He boasted of the confidence His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah have in the security bodies.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Bader Hamad Al-Essa offered the customary meeting a briefing on the results of Grade 12, the final year at high school exams, also known as general secondary school certificate (GSSC), for the academic year 2014-2015, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah added. According to the results announced on Sunday, success at the scientific section hit 91.2 percent, compared to 86.3 percent for the literary section.

Up to 33,790 students took the exams, 17,607 in the scientific section and 15,234 in the literary section. Al-Essa also reviewed the ongoing arrangements by the Kuwait University, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, the Ministry of Higher Education and the Secretariat of the Private Universities Council (PUC) for student admissions.

Then, Minister of State for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul informed the Cabinet that the Public Authority for Housing Welfare had started work at Al-Metlaa city, a major project included in the state development plan. He said the project will contribute much to easing the problem of accumulated house applications.

It will provide 30,400 lots of land, in addition to an integrated city. At the onset of the meeting, the Cabinet was notified of the delegation that will accompany His Highness the Amir during his visit to Bahrain on Tuesday, May 9. It includes senior Sheikhs, and government officials, the Cabinet Affairs Minister said.

Then the meeting was informed of the message from Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega Saavedra thanking His Highness the Amir for inviting him to visit Kuwait. He lauded good bilateral ties. Afterwards, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah acquainted the Cabinet with the outcome of a recent meeting for the countries in the coalition fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). The gathering in Paris agreed to support the military plan being implemented by the Iraqi government in cooperation with the People's Mobilization Forces to restore power over regions seized by ISIL, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said. He reiterated Kuwait's support to efforts by the Iraqi government for fighting terrorism and in the meantime, boosting democracy and national unity under the rule of the law.

Also the Cabinet approved and referred to His Highness the Amir amendments to be introduced to Law 23/1990 on judiciary regulations. The bill will be later referred to the National Assembly. By the same token, the Cabinet approved two draft bills, the first for joining the budget of the General Road and Transport Authority (GRTA) from 17/2/2015 to 31/3/2016. The second was on joining the budget of the Public Authority for Telecommunication and Information Technology for the period from 8/5/2014 to 31/3/2016. Both draft bills were referred to His Highness the Amir, and will later find their way to the National Assembly. Addressing the topics on the agenda of the National Assembly, the Cabinet reviewed draft bills of endorsing final accounts for the FY 2013-2014, and others on joining the 2015-2016 budgets for some state bodies. It discussed two draft bills for joining the budgets of the Public Authority for Manpower and Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) for FYs 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. Concluding today's meeting, the Cabinet discussed reports on Arab and international political developments
