(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The inspection timetable seeks to ensure that all said establishments and shops are complying with the conditions set for public hygiene.
Fujairah — The Fujairah Municipality has wrapped up its preparations to welcome the approaching holy month of Ramadan.
Mohammed Saif Al Afkham Director-General of the Fujairah Municipality said the municipality has initiated extensive inspection visits to the local markets trading shops and foodstuff establishments to verify their trading licences and maintain its control over the market.
Aseela Al Muala Director of the Public Services and Environment Department said the Public Health Section of the municipality has laid down a plan of action by making an inspection schedule targeting all food and health establishments operating in the emirate such as restaurants cafeterias eateries bakeries groceries confectioneries retailers shopping centres food stores vegetable and fruit markets butcheries and centres that sell subsidised goods in the emirate.
The inspection timetable seeks to ensure that all said establishments and shops are complying with the conditions set for public hygiene and that they meet the terms already imposed by the municipality in general and for the holy month of Ramadan in particular.
The Public Health Section she said will step up the inspection visits throughout the entire holy month to prevent any violations that may harm the public health.
Abattoirs gear up
Al Muala said the Fujairah abattoirs are all set to receive customers in Ramadan. She said two new slaughterhouses have been opened at Merbeh and Massafi neighbourhoods bringing the total abattoirs operating in Fujairah to four.
All sacrificial animals shall be subject to a vet checkup before and after the slaughtering process in order to ward off any potential disease she added.
“Slaughterhouses in Fujairah shall remain open from 8am to 4pm and from 9pm to 11.30pm” she said.
In a flyer circulated by the municipality serving food and beverages at hotels and furnished (hotel) apartments is banned during the day hours but only allowed for non-Muslims inside their rooms Al Muala said.
Restaurant-owners who are willing to open their eateries to prepare food meals and serve them only as a takeaway meal must arrange a permit from the municipality in advance.
Offering and selling of liquor and alcoholic beverages at hotels is also banned over the holy month. Night clubs and massage parlours are to be closed at day and night too.
Restaurants cafes eateries have been told to close their doors during the day time and until sunset.
