Mideast carriers' record 14.1 percent growth in demand in Q1

(MENAFN) Air Carriers in the Middle East recorded a growth in demand of about 14.1 percent in the first quarter of the year, according to The International Air Transport Association (IATA), Saudi Gazette reported.

Additionally, IATA reported a 3.3 percent cargo volume increase in the global air freight markets this last April. Aggregate global cargo volumes, however, did not show any signs of improvement.

"After a volatile start to 2015, the market is settling down, and it is clear that momentum in air freight growth is being lost" there is the structural challenge of world trade no longer expanding at a faster rate than domestic production," IATA's Director General and CEO said.
