Arab human rights panel starts meeting


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The 38th session of the Arab Human Rights Permanent Committee opened yesterday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo. It was presided over by member of Oman's National Rights Human Rights Committee Mohamed bin Suleiman al-Rashidi and attended by representatives of Arab human rights committees.

Assistant Director of the Foreign Ministry's Human Rights Department HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Youssuf bin Jabor al-Thani is representing Qatar at the meeting.

Al-Rashidi underlined the significance of the meeting which will discuss important issues including the Arab League General Secretariat's report on measures taken to implement recommendations of the committee's previous session, in addition to an Arab plan aimed to promote human rights culture and the Arab human rights strategy.

Al-Rashidi pointed out to the constructive co-operation between the Arab Human Rights Committee and the Arab League General Secretariat with regard to briefing on developments in the occupied Arab territories to Arab League offices worldwide.
