Qatari, 55, back in high school

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) It's never too late for Qatari Ahmad Albu Rashid to finish high school.

Ahmad quit school in 1973 and now at 55, he is enrolled in Grade 11 and about to graduate next year. For him age is not a hindrance in pursuing his dream of acquiring good education.

After 35 years, he decided to go back to school in 2008 and the idea was supported by his family and friends, he said. He went to the Supreme Education Council which granted him permission to continue under the Parallel Education System or evening school.

Through a crash program he finished Grades 5 and 6 during the academic year 2008-2009 and moved to Middle School, then to high school in Al Wakrah Independent Secondary School in 2013.

"I am in Grade 11 and near to finish Secondary education. If I pass the exams I'll move to Grade 12," he told Al Raya. But it would not be the end yet for Ahmad's education as he has plans to finish college.

"I am planning to join university and take up Economics and Business Administration," he said, adding he believes he will do well in university because of his good command in English having had education in Cambridge in the UK in addition to taking courses in the British Council.
