Oman clubbed with title holder Qatar in AFC U19 qualifiers


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman has been clubbed with reigning champion and hosts Qatar Lebanon and Kyrgyzstan in Group D of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship 2016 qualifiers following a draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on Friday.

The qualifiers will be held from September 28-October 6.

A total of 43 member associations including the finals hosts Bahrain will compete in the qualifying round which has been divided into two zones - the west zone (25 teams) and the east zone (18 teams).

Ten group winners and five best second-placed teams will qualify for the finals while hosts Bahrain have received automatic qualification.

If Bahrain finishes on top of its qualifying group or as one of the five runner-up teams the next (sixth) second-placed side will qualify for the tournament proper.

U16 qualifiers: Oman to play in Kyrgyzstan

Oman has been clubbed with Nepal Jordan and hosts Kyrgyzstan in Group B of the AFC U16 Championship 2016 qualifiers following a draw on Friday. The qualifying matches will be played from September 12-20.

India will host the finals of the event.

A total of 45 nations will participate in the qualifiers in Kyrgyzstan. Eleven group winners and four best second-placed teams will qualify for the finals with hosts India receiving an automatic qualification.

In case India finishes on top of its qualifying group or among the four best second-placed teams the next (fifth) runner-up side will qualify for the finals.
