US drone strikes kill 9 suspected militants in N. Pakistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least nine suspected militants were killed in United States-led drone strikes in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region on Saturday, said local reports.

The drone targeted two compounds, which are said to be hideouts of the militants, in the remote Shawal Valley of the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan, according to reports. The drone fired four missiles on the hideouts, killing nine suspected militants, including foreigners.

The compound and a parked vehicle were destroyed completely and caught fire after the strike.

It was the second US drone strike in North Waziristan in a month.

Earlier in the month, Pakistan had condemned a drone strike in the Spinkai Raghzai area of North Waziristan and reiterated its call for cessation of such strikes.
