Dubai FDI to host 'Dubai Investment Forum' in Oct. 2015


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI), an agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED), will host the 'Dubai Investment Forum 2015' to highlight trade and investment opportunities in Dubai and discuss the best means for businesses to take advantage of the opportunities.

The initiative is meant to support the ongoing efforts of the Government of Dubai to promote business and investment opportunities as well as economic development. The Forum to be held on the 12th of October 2015 at the Burj Al Arab, will also seek to consolidate the strengths of Dubai and the UAE in general as an investment destination and platform for global economic development.

The focus of the Forum will be on facilitating communication on the economy and investment among public and private sector decision-makers, investors and government institutions. Discussions on investment opportunities across different industry sectors in Dubai and direct meetings between investors and government institutions will be part of the agenda.

The Forum will also introduce to participants Dubai's new economic plan and continuous improvements being made to keep business in the emirate aligned with the best investment practices and competitive development of the emirate.

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said. "Dubai under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has taken business and investment to a new level with a clear strategy of innovative economic diversification into trade, logistics and tourism. Through encouraging private sector participation and the success of Dubai Investment Development Agency in attracting international companies to Dubai, the city has also shown the way in promoting diverse industry sectors."

The Crown Prince added: "Dubai has become synonymous with iconic projects and a meeting point for leading businesses and investors as well as an investment destination. Dubai's economy has performed consistently well reaffirming its strength and sustainability thanks to the world-class infrastructure and excellent work environment in the city and its strategic location in proximity to strategic markets."

Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of the Department of Economic Development, thanked HH Sheikh Hamdan for his patronage for the inaugural Dubai Investment Forum and said: "It is proof of HH's confidence in the efforts of DED and its agencies in pursuing economic development and competitiveness as well as in providing innovative value-added services to citizens, residents, businessmen and investors alike in the emirate."

Al Qamzi further said that a notable feature of Dubai is the rising number of leading companies operating in strategic sectors. "The Dubai Investment Forum will raise the profile of business in Dubai through promoting foreign capital inflows and share of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Dubai. Participants will be briefed on Dubai's achievements in attracting investment and plans to retain the emirate's business leadership and improve trade and investment practices competitively."

Fahad Al Gergawi, CEO of Dubai FDI, said: "The Dubai Investment Forum is aimed to develop a road map for investment and economic growth and help evolve corporate strategies that bring regional and global capital into Dubai. The Forum will lead to smart solutions to enhance ease of doing business in Dubai, to weather economic challenges and to support future strategies of investors."

Al Gergawi said that investors, businessmen and decision-makers from regional and global institutions, including investors, international financial institutions and banks, and chief executives of public and private sector organisations will participate in the Forum.

Dubai-based companies can utilise the Forum to enhance operational efficiencies and secure access to international markets, said Al Gergawi. Direct meetings to be held alongside the Forum will bring together investors and government representatives to explore potential expansion of businesses beyond Dubai and the best means of sourcing the required capital for such expansion.
