12,000 Syrians On Visit Visas Unable To Return Back


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Director General of Residency Affairs Major General Talal Al- Marafie has formed a committee to study the status of about 12,000 Syrians who entered the country on visit visas but were unable to return back due to the conflict that emerged in their country, reports Al-Anba daily quoting security sources.

They explained that the committee will be tasked with figuring out ways to resolve the situation in accordance with the international laws that govern such situations.

Meanwhile, the sources said the department has completed its study concerning imposing penalties on those who harbor outlaws. They revealed that the study proposes a fine ranging between KD 1000 and KD 2000, adding that the study will soon be referred to the concerned authority for endorsement or amendment.

The sources affirmed that there is an ongoing study concerning increasing the charges of residency visas by 50 percent, which could reflect in the income of the expatriates.

They clarified that the new charges will be imposed on those who want to extend their residency visa while they are outside the country for academic or medical purposes.
