Qatar Participates in FAO 39th Conference


(MENAFN- QNA) Qatar took part in the 39th session of FAO conference, which opened Saturday in Rome and lasts until June 13.

HE Minister of Environment Ahmed bin Amer Al Humaidi is leading Qatar's delegation that includes HE Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki Al Jehani, Qatar's ambassador to Italy and permanent representative to U.N. organizations in Rome, and the accompanying delegation.

Held biennially, the conference is set to discuss issues including food status, agriculture, markets of food commodities, global food security, FAO-related Millennium Development Goals, and FAO policies and organizational issues.

The conference will also endorse the re-election of FAO director general for a second four-year term, being the only candidate for the position.
