Students to learn building restoration technique


(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) will hold a 60-day training course on restoring old buildings starting Sunday.
The SCTA's National Urban Heritage Center (NUHC) will run the courses for university students from the faculties of engineering architecture and the college of tourism and antiquities at King Saud University King Abdul Aziz University Um Al-Qura University Al-Qassim University and Dammam University.
According to the NUHC the program includes mud construction and the use of local building materials. 'This will be demonstrated to the participants through workshops lectures and field visits' the media department said on Tuesday.
These courses aim to provide university students with experience and raise their awareness on the importance of urban heritage. They are being run under the auspices of Prince Sultan bin Salman president of the SCTA.
