EU Commission announces 25 m euro aid for Iraq


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The European Commission announced an extra 25 million euro in aid for the victims of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Iraq on Thursday.

The funding will help the internally displaced people, including those who recently fled the fighting in Ramadi, Anbar governorate, with water, food, sanitation, shelter, medical supplies and health care, said the EUØ¢'s executive body in a statement.

With today's increase, the European Commission's humanitarian aid for Iraq in 2015 stands at more than 63 million euro.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Salim Abdullah Al-Jabouri, who is currently visiting Brussels is to meet the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, and the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini later today.
