Tunisia, Qatar discuss bilateral ties, regional issues


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) President Beji Caid Essebsi of Tunisia met Thursday with visiting Foreign Minister of Qatar Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to boost bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as regional issues of mutual interest, Tunisian Presidency said in a statement.

Al-Attiyah affirmed his country's keenness in enhancing ties and cooperation with Tunisia in various fields of development, it said.

For his part, the Tunisian President valued the level of Tunisian-Qatari relations, hailing both countries' willingness to upgrade and expand bilateral cooperation.

Al-Attiyah arrived in Tunis on Wednesday in a three-day official visit to the country, during which is expected to hold talks with his Tunisian counterpart Taieb Baccouche, Premier Habib Essid, and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Ennaceur.

The Qatari Minister is also to partake in the second anniversary celebration of the Qatar Friendship Fund in Tunisia, in addition to patronizing awards ceremony for best young entrepreneurs with most successful projects backed by the Qatari fund.
