PNC warns against Israeli bill to legitimize settlements

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Palestinian National Council (PNC) called on the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) and the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC or PUOIC) to convene emergency meetings to discuss a response to the Israeli draft bill on automatic enforcement of any legislations relating to Jewish settlements.

The Amman-based PNC, legislative body of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), urged in a statement late Thursday the regional and international parliamentary unions to warn the Israeli Knesset against passing the draft which runs counter the UN Security Council resolutions 242 and 338.

Jerusalem and Palestine continue to be the key to peace and stability in the Middle East which is rife with conflicts and internal strife, according to the statement.

On the 48th anniversary of the Middle East war of June 5, 1967, the PNC called on the Palestinian factions to live up to their national responsibilities in the framework of the PLO, set aside their differences and face up to the challenges of the current stage.
