Palestinian PM Urges End to Policy of Displacement, Destruction

(MENAFN- QNA) Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Thursday called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to intervene in order to stop Israel's policy of displacement and destruction against Palestinian citizens in marginalized areas in East Jerusalem and surrounding areas.

He made the remarks during his meeting with Nikolay Mladenov, the U.N. special coordinator for the Middle East peace process.

They discussed latest political and economic developments and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Hamdallah briefed Mladenov on projects offered and funded by donor countries, particularly Arab countries, including housing projects and the establishment of a power plant and a number of industrial zones.

He stressed the need for increasing coordination between his government and U.N. organizations and doubling efforts to beef up the reconstruction process so as to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.
