Death row convict hanged in Lahore


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A death row convict was executed at the Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore on Wednesday morning.

The prisoner Javed alias Jaida had killed two persons in North Cantt police station in 1987. He was sentenced to death in 1989.

The body was later handed over to Javed’s relatives.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted the moratorium on the death penalty on December 17 2014 a day after Taleban terrorists attacked a school and killed 134 students and 19 adults. The killings put pressure on the government to do more to tackle the insurgency.
