Greek stocks down after failure to reach deal on bailout
(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Greece's main stock index was trading lower on Thursday with investors fretting over the state of the country's
finances, dpa reported.
As of 11:21 am (0821 GMT), the Athex Composite was trading 2.58 per
cent lower, at 816.61, as a crucial meeting between the country's
prime minister and European officials late Wednesday again failed to
produce a deal ahead of a looming repayment deadline.
Following the meeting in Brussels between European Commission
President Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the Eurogroup of eurozone
finance ministers Jeroen Dijsselbloem and the Greek Prime Minister
Alexis Tsipras, all the parties pointed to progress despite
differences.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the European Commission
said: 'It was agreed that they will meet again. Intense work will
continue.'
