The attacks took place on last week and again on Tuesday in the city of Maiduguri, where there are already large numbers of refugees fleeing attacks by extremist Islamist group Boko Haram.

"France condemns the attacks perpetrated on May 30 and June 2 in Maiduguri," the French statement said, adding "we extend our condolences to their families."
