(MENAFN- Arab Times) Undersecretary of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Adel Al-Falah announced that 10 expatriate or Bedoun pilgrims can be included in each Hajj caravan this year, reports Al-Rai daily. He explained that the maximum number of pilgrims from Kuwait is still only 6,400 because of the expansion works ongoing in Makkah.
There are usually 74 Hajj caravans from Kuwait but this year, some had merged, reducing the number of caravans to only 50 due to certain circumstances. Al-Falah affirmed that Kuwaiti citizens will have priority of registration in the Hajj caravans, adding that studies conducted by Saudi Arabia at the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for Hajj Researches indicate that Kuwaiti Hajj mission is on top position due to its excellent achievements in the last few years.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has approved to form a team for completing the establishment of an electronic database of the activities carried out by the Minister's Office outside the official working hours, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting informed sources. They explained that the team will be in charge of collecting data from various sources and classifying them in order to enter into the database so that they can be handled and analyzed to obtain necessary information for taking quick decisions.
Meanwhile, sources affirmed that the Undersecretary of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Adel Al-Falah has approved to form a Scholarship and School Vacation Committee which will be presided over by the assistant undersecretary for Planning and Development. They explained that the committee will be in charge of approving the plans and policies, and allotting conditions for selecting the nominees for the scholarships and overseas training courses. As per the decision, the committee will be in power until March 31, 2016.
